MP met with Warren and her mentor (I think?) during the race.
--- AFTER THE RACE ---
Dylan has Chou, Sycorax, and Skelter staked and Kaspar can only save one. He chooses Chou. The others will "come with [Dylan] for a time." They talk about Dyl's offer to meet his friends -- he says "the lord of the house" takes hospitality seriously. It's probably not someone Kas knows but could be. Kas takes Chou back to the haven on his motorcycle and puts him in the cell.
MG pays out the bets at Sweet Dean's and hangs out with Fisher for the rest of the night, then heads back to the haven. She makes $55 from the bets but has to give $20 back to MP.
Theodora stays in our guest mansion.
--- NEXT NIGHT ---
Dean is going to work with Fisher on security stuff.
Theo comes over to thank us and MG tells her about Tucker and the cheese.
Kas calls a meeting and tells us that someone stayed over, then MP and MG hassle him about a bit until he takes us to Chou in the basement. He tells us the story of what happened and about Dylan's friends. MG calls Guillermo and Kasey on the warrenphone, then calls Dean and tells him to tell Damsel to come over. MG and Kas move Chou to the couch upstairs.
Nines, Damsel, Guillermo, and Kasey come over. MG and Kas tell them the story. Kasey frenzies when she hears that Kas might know where Syc is and attacks him. Pam stops her and Theo uses Eyes of the Serpent on her while MG tries to have a Premonition: a castle, in the dungeon. Nines carries Kasey outside. Guillermo says he saw it happen -- saw Dylan glow and a car pull up with shadow tentacles coming out of the backseat and take them. We discuss what to do and G wants to fight him but Kas thinks we could negotiate with him. Theo asks Kas to leave the room and then suggests we burn the castle down in the daytime but MG says we can't do that with Syc and Sk inside. Nines comes back and says he'll try to wake up Chou. It doesn't wake him up. MG suggests Valdez or Dracula and Nines kind of scoffs and says "Bela?" MG asks him who that is and he says some people call him that. MG says it's nice that his subjects love him so much. Theo uses Blood of Potency and raises her potency to 4, but gains the Transgression compulsion. She awakens Chou.
He asks what happened and who was in the car. We tell him we don't know and he asks if we're going to kill him. Theo tells him there's something in the basement he can snack on, and Kas tries to play it off. She then whispers to Kas that he should deny Chou what we have to offer. MP chastises her for offering up things in a house that isn't her and kicks her out. As she shows her out, she tells her she's welcome back but telling our secrets is a no. Theo Entrances her and apologizes. MP graciously accepts it and mentions that she has been doing "research" on the body. They both go back in.
Chou and Nines are talking about scoping things out. Chou says he might know some people who know something about fighting Methuselahs. Tell us to contact Dylan and try to get info. They leave.
The coterie hunts and returns home. Theo convinces her prey to violently fight someone and she is unsure if they'll survive.
Kas talks to us about Dylan and we agree to meet his friends. Kas calls him and Dylan says he'll send his "girl" over to pick us up for "the cookout." MG has a Premonition to see if there will be violence or if he'll ask us to submit to him in some way: "A bat hangs on a tree above a bloody fight. But he seems peaceful and unbothered as long as he stays on his branch."
A young blonde woman in fashionable business clothes arrives. Evvy? is her name. She tells us some rules: hospitality is important; a gift is probably expected; transportation must be arranged because secrecy is imporant. She offers that we get picked up during the day and wake up there, or that we go to a waiting area and wouldn't be able to see where we're going. Modern tech is forbidden, although it wouldn't work anyway. She gives us an address in Culver City. MG gives it to Pam. We stop at Theodora's so she can pick up an old watch. MG tells the coterie that she thinks we will be safe if we don't provoke him.
We go to a garage and are told to get into the back of a moving truck that has seats. We move for a while (half hour) and stop, then the truck shakes a bit. Then we move again but it feels like we're not on a truck anymore; it's smoother. MG and MP think we're on a boat in the ocean and it lasts for a while, about 1.5 hours. We stop and the door opens. A man in spectacles is there, looks a bit like David Tennant. Introduces himself as Dr. Ainsworth; says "welcome to the island." MG tries to see if she can see the mainland while Theo checks out the stars. MG thinks she can see maybe see a vague shore in the east but can't be sure. Theo thinks the stars look like they should for this part of the world. Ainsworth shows us to our quarters via horse-drawn wagon. Says most of the villagers speak Romanian. We're staying in the guest quarters tonight.
Island: hills, trees, seems like a non-modern small village. a castle in the distance. Has a name but Ainsworth won't say it. Is hidden from mortals somehow.
Guest quarters: dimly candlelit, no electricity. Bedrooms upstairs. Says we'll have breakfast when we awaken and asks about our diets. Says we shouldn't stray too far from the chateau this evening.
Theo winds her watch by the stars and suggests we sleep in the same room. We agree and stay in the master bedroom.
